Rubber Gasket PCD

How to Measure Gasket PCD (Pitch Circle Diameter)

The PCD (Pitch Circle Diameter) of a gasket refers to the diameter of the circle that passes through the center of all the bolt holes. It is a critical measurement for ensuring the gasket aligns correctly with the flange bolt pattern.

Steps to Measure Gasket PCD:

1) Identify the Bolt Holes – Place the gasket flat and locate the bolt holes.

2) Count the Holes – Note the total number of bolt holes on the gasket.

3) Measure Across Opposite Holes – For gaskets with an even number of holes, measure the distance between the centers of two directly opposite holes.

4) Use Adjacent Holes (Odd Number) – For gaskets with an odd number of holes, measure from the center of one hole to the outside edge of the hole directly opposite, then calculate the PCD using a reference chart or formula.

5) Verify with Flange Standards – Compare your measurement with the relevant flange standard (e.g., ANSI, DIN, JIS) to confirm the correct size.

Why PCD Measurement is Important:

* Ensures gasket matches the flange bolt pattern

* Prevents installation errors and leakage

* Guarantees correct alignment for industrial, marine, and mechanical applications
